Walmart has appointed Vinima Shekhar to the role of vice president of beauty, succeeding Creighton Kiper, who was named senior vice president of the U.S. retail giant's home category.

Vinima Shekhar - Walmart

Shekhar joined Walmart in 2018 in e-commerce and has worked in various areas of the merchandising business. In her most recent role as vice president of wellness she exceeded key metrics including sales, profits, and digital targets.

Prior to that, she built a new business model and long-range strategy for Walmart’s directed spend fintech platform, growing the business exponentially across food and consumables. She has also led the omni-holiday program for consumables, delivering record-breaking sales and sell-through across the division.

Before joining Walmart, Shekhar worked in the manufacturing sector, where she led several transformational initiatives and launched her own business.

"[Shekhar] is passionate about building inclusive cultures, creating high performing collaborative teams, and spearheading transformations," said Walmart in a statement.

A successor to Shekhar was not announced.

In its most recent trading update, Walmart raised its full-year outlook and reported better-than-expected first quarter results.
